Parent Child Conflict

Parenting can be a gratifying and fulfilling journey and the parent-child relationship is one of life's most rewarding relationships, however conflict is inevitable. Parent-child conflicts can occur for many reasons, and when conflict happens the entire family dynamic can be but to the test. Communication is a very beneficial tool in resolving conflict. "When parenting, we need to listen to our children and consider their input," says psychologist Dr. Longhurst. Understanding why a parent and child conflict occurs and how to resolve it can help bring harmony back to the entire family.

There are many causes to parent-child conflict, such as some conflicts occur when parents cannot give as much attention or support to their children as is desired. If a family has multiple children, the middle children may feel lost and act out, there is a difference in opinions etc. However conflict, however, does not have to be negative or long-lasting. Working through differences in parent-child relationships can give strength to the relationship and add character to the individuals involved. We at MCCG can help resolve the conflicts and help the parent child relationship flourish.
