mcdowall counselling & consulting group offers a comprehensive 10-week anger management program for individuals seeking counselling to gain awareness and learn strategies to help manage their anger more effectively. We offer individual sessions to our clients rather than group anger management counselling because we believe that it is important to discuss the individual’s unique circumstances that are fueling their anger behaviour. With this in mind, our counsellors will customize the anger management program to accommodate the unique needs of our clients. Our program is primarily psycho-educational in nature but often other relevant issues (i.e. relationship difficulties and family of origin issues) are explored. As such, we offer an anger management program that provides educational and counselling in a manner that is confidential and non-judgmental.
In most cases, clients attend one 50 minute counselling session per week for 10 consecutive weeks. During the 10-week period, our clients will be introduced to a variety of topics related to anger and will have homework assignments that will include readings and/or practicing skills learned during the each session. At the end of our program, our clients will have learnt a variety of strategies and skills to manage their anger and control their behaviour during anger provoking situations. In addition, they will receive an Anger Management Relapse Plan to refer to if their anger becomes a problem again.
Our Anger Management Program was designed to accommodate the needs of both court mandated and non-mandated individuals. Therefore, at the end of the 10-week program, our clients will receive an Anger Management Completion Certificate.
